A very large black bear (Ursus americanus) in Yellowstone, watching cars pass by. Seen close to the road near Antelope Creek south of Tower Fall. | A very large bear in Yellowstone. I think it is also a black bear, although it's not so easy to tell, as it was very large. Is that a small hump behind the head, and is it's face more dish shaped, and are its hind legs shorter than its forelegs? The answers seem to be "no" and therefore I think it's a black bear, but I can't be certain that "no" is accurate. This bear was up on a slope observing the bear shown to its right, south of Tower Fall. | A large black bear that is not at all black in color in Yellowstone. This bear was not too far from the road just a mile or so away from Floating Island Lake. | |
