    Llangollon Wales canal Ubehebe crater
    May 27th, 1977. Llangollen, Wales. From bridge over canal. Bryn Howel Hotel yard at right. March 15th, 1978. The Ubehebe crater in Death Valley National Park. A great volcanic explosion some 3,000 years ago blew this hole in the ground. It is about 500 feet deep and one-half mile in diameter. Volcanic cinders and "bombs" were thrown for distances up to four miles. There are several smaller craters nearby, some of which may not be over 200 to 300 years old. Ubehebe means "big basket" in Shoshone.
