Family Pictures from June of 2008

Drawings and paintings.

Sometimes in our spare time we draw or paint for fun. It's a nice way to pass the time and share some conversation while you use part of your mind that you don't use so often while working on a computer. This page has images we've made at home or in school.

More art by Arthur.
Fred the Fly Running Into Colors Just a picture of a colorful bike Animals going to a party, riding on a turtle
Fred the fly is running into some colors. A color bike.
This first row are pictures Arthur drew in 2007, when he was in the second grade.
The Giraffe, penguin, and the snake were going to a party, and they got tired. So, they rode on the back of their friend, the turtle.
A Kangaroo A Monkey A bird (a cardinal) drawn by a young child
This row features pictures Sebastian drew in 2000, around the time of his 5-year-old birthday. This image is a kangaroo. Here we see a monkey swinging on a rope between two trees. One of the trees seems to be a banana tree. Here is Sebastian's image of a bird. Since we lived in St. Louis in 2000, this is of course a cardinal.
Sebastian's picture of an elephant A flower drawn by Eric in 1987 A fish drawn by Eric in 1974
An elephant by Sebastian. These are animals he drew and painted as an older 4-year-old, not long before his 5-year-old birthday. A fairly typical doodle by Eric from 1987.

A computer doodle from the early 1990s.

More bookmarks Baha'i Bookmarks Bookmarks to print out
This is the first sheet of bookmarks. It features quotations from the Baha'i writings. You can print this out, and then print out something else on the back. Then, cut out the bookmarks, and use tape on both sides or else lamination to make good bookmarks. This is the second sheet of bookmarks (designed by Eric, as the first sheet was designed by Almandra and the third sheet was mainly designed by Sebastian). It also features quotations from the Baha'i scriptures. This is the third sheet of bookmarks. It will work as the reverse side of first sheet of bookmarks. If you have a color printer and paper that can take color ink on both sides, just turn the paper over after printing this on one side, and you can print the first sheet of bookmarks on the other side.
An abstract art drawing by Eric showing a person detached from self and independent of distractions A drawing by Eric trying to convey a feeling about the origins of life and the evolution of life, and the processes of life giving rise to human consciousness This could be printed out on the reverse of the bookmarks shown above
The theme of this abstract work is detachment and independence from earthly things. The Romanesque-style holy person holds a shield and gestures with his right hand. In the lower right quadrant are precious insights or gems of wisdom hidden in the darkness. In the upper right quadrant we have something vibrant and full of vital life force, but surrounded by dark emptiness, and requiring something in order to continue floating out there in the void. In the upper left quadrant we have a glimpse of something brighter in the distance beyond the monotonous darkness. This abstract painting seems to have something to do with life arising out of the void. Certain colors represent Life, cells, order coming out of disorder, and evolution. Other colors represent the chemical elements that contribute to biological processes, the emptiness of space, or the heat of stars and nuclear reactions that create elements. The tiny shapes in the upper right represent thought and sentience arising from life. The Romanesque head represents human intellect and spirituality, which is contrasted with the void of space and chemical reactions. This is the fourth sheet of Baha'i bookmarks. It is designed to be printed on the reverse side of the second sheet of bookmarks.
Abstract color composition by Arthur Arthur's color composition Another of Arthur's abstract color compositions
Arthur was getting warmed up for some drawing, and he started with these blocks of primary colors and earth tones. 8/14/2008. Here arthur has made a very complex scribble and colored it in with many colors. 8/15/2008. An abstract color composition by Arthur, done when he was nine years old. 8/14/2008.
An ocean scene drawn by Arthur An abstract color composition by Arthur A dragon's head
This is an ocean image done by Arthur on August 14-15 of 2008. He has cut out and pasted two fish into the image. This is one of Arthur's abstract compositions made in the second week of August in 2008, when he was nine years old. Here is a little dragon or monster's head drawn as a doodle by Eric in August of 2008 to entertain Arthur.
A Kaleidoscope painting A doodle done by Eric in 1988 A caterpillar made by Arthur when he was in second grade
Here is a kaleidoscope image Arthur made in second grade (2007). This is a doodle Eric drew in 1988. "Love, true and eternal" is the theme. Quite the romantic. This caterpillar was made by Arthur in a school project during second grade (in 2007). It resembles Eric Carle's Hungry Caterpillar.
